High Performance
Super Tints

High performance color glasses owe their excellent properties of solar control to the selectivity of the color used in their composition, which allows to obtain an excellent degree of solar control without resorting to the use of reflective coatings.

Features

Compared to traditional gray, bronze and green Float® shades, high-performance Supergrey®, Evergreen® and Arctic Blue® glasses have, according to the color, high rates of visible light transmission and transparency, with a lower shading coefficient.

Pilkington Evergreen®

Warm green color. Its main property is its very high transmission of visible light along with a more efficient shading coefficient than the traditional gray and bronze shades. Seen from inside a building, its delicate green color is perceived almost as a colorless glass. Available in 6mm 2440x3300mm sheets.

Pilkington Arctic Blue®

Blue-gray color. The Arctic Blue® line by Pilkington® offers a new possibility of designing facades and interiors that require the use of an aesthetically sober glass, with excellent properties of visible light transmission and solar control. Available in 6mm 2440x3300mm sheets.

Pilkington Supergrey®

It has an almost blackish color. It is the ideal glass for office buildings seeking to avoid the discomfort of reflecting light on computer screens, simultaneously providing a degree of solar control comparable only with very high performance reflective glasses. Available in 6mm 2440x3300mm sheets.

Solar energy contains many different energy wavelengths, including ultraviolet (UV) radiation, visible light and infrared heat. A glaze must minimize UV radiation, because it is the cause of up to 60% of the discoloration and premature aging of interior equipment. A glass that presents a high transmission of visible light allows to reduce the requirements of artificial lighting, and infrared radiation, which is the largest source of solar gain. The graph shows the percentage of each wavelength of energy that passes through the 6mm monolithic Float® glasses produced and/or supplied by VASA. Most colored glasses reduce the passage of visible light as a means to control heat gain. Evergreen® transmits more visible light than Float® Gray and Bronze glasses. Supergrey® glass combines exceptional solar control with an efficient control of natural light brightness, reducing the discomfort caused by interior brightness and excessive glare.

Pilkington Profilit®

Profilit® is a U-shape translucent colorless glass, which has texture on one of its sides just as that of Stipolite printed glass. The resistance its shape provides allows installation in openings, with a large vertical light, supported only at its two opposite ends. Mounting can be done in a straight or curved line, in the form of a single or double skin creating an air chamber between the both.

Application

Its greatest field of application are large translucent windows in non-residential buildings, such as businesses, warehouses, hangars, parking lots. Profilit® offers a wide range of applications for the residential and interior decoration market with windows that provide diffused, and subtle transparent light, as well as a pioneering design.

Mode of Use

Because it is annealed glass, Profilit® is cut and processed with common glazier tools. Its assembly is simply done by juxtaposition of one profile next to another, held at two ends by two appropriately designed profiles. The vertical joints between each Profilit® strip must be sealed with silicone sealant.

Presentation

Profilit® is presented in standard 3000 and 5500mm long strips and structured with longitudinal wires every 20mm.

Dimensions

The installation of Profilit® requires a simple and quick assembly process enhanced by the possibility of cutting all materials intervening in the system on site. Depending on the requirements and characteristics of the work, there are several ways of standard installation.

Simple Skin Profilit®

Single Skin Vertical Profilit® is the most cost-efficient alternative. It allows maximum transmission of light inside the building but has restrictions on the maximum height of installation.

Double Skin Profilit®

Double Skin Profilit® is the vertical mounting method that allows to obtain the maximum performance of the system: greater free light between supports, optimum value of the K coefficient, a high index of acoustic insulation, and excellent transmission of natural light. It can also be installed horizontally, in which case the maximum number of free lights on the glass profiles is restricted, and the cost of the assembly and of the support structure is greater than in the vertical mounting.

Minimum Recommended Specification

The translucent system consists of Profilit K25 self-supporting glass profiles, installed in accordance with the mounting recommendations and wind pressure resistance tables indicated by VASA, in the form of single skin/double skin/vertical/horizontal (enter the appropriate option). Installation will be made with the aluminum profile system and its corresponding PVC inserts, supplied together with the Profilit K25 system, or another installation system with similar features according to the details, drawings and specifications in the construction plans. The joints will be sealed with silicone compounds applied in all the joints between glasses, between aluminum and glass, and between the joints of the aluminum profiles and the resistant structure.
